Description of the project:

The "Cork.a.Tex-Yarn: Cork Coated Wire" project is a long way from Sedacor (leading developer), Têxteis Penedo, CITEVE and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (through the LSRE Associated Laboratory -LCM), with the aim of developing innovative and high-performance products that simultaneously incorporate the properties of textile substrates at the level of comfort, touch and appearance and functional cork surplus value.

Objectives:

The primary objective of this project is the scalability, optimization and industrial validation of the innovative concept of yarn coated with cork additives obtained in the previous project "Cork.a.Tex", thus increasing the productive capacity through the construction of a pilot line, with a view commercial use.

Other Information:

In this project, high-performance textile solutions coated with cork have been developed that simultaneously incorporate the properties of textile substrates at the level of comfort, touch and appearance and the functional advantages of cork additives, namely lightness, thermal insulation, anti-dust mites , soil and water repellency and impermeability, which are traditionally only obtained by the addition of functional chemical agents.
