Installed in the valley that separates the limestone formations of the Serra da Arrábida from the clay-limestone formations that extend to Setúbal, the Scratch Factory had the necessary raw materials and easy access by land and sea. Factors that were decisive so that at the beginning of the century a small group of Belgian and Portuguese engineers would have started to build a cement factory there. In 1994, Secil became a fully private capital company and the acquisition of the CMP company was acquired, becoming the custodian of the Maceira-Liz and Cibra-Pataias cement factories.
