The Slimframe PV & Cork Skin project aims to develop a sustainable facade kit solution consisting on a modular system capable of accumulating multiple functions and presenting multiple configurations, including thermal insulation cork (ICB) and fixed photovoltaic glass trough innovative mechanisms. It is intended that the facade system simultaneously check insulation characteristics with low environmental impact and passive and active solar energy use.
Objectives:With the objective of offering a facade system with characteristics of isolation and solar energy use, the consortium proposes to develop a solution that incorporates the use of insulation in expanded cork agglomerate in conjunction with glass (with the possibility of integration of photovoltaic cells), with particular attention to the development of the fixation mechanism of the glass to the support (wall), so that it makes the thermal cut and has the capacity to integrate and hide the wiring of the photovoltaic system. It is expected that the use of solar energy will be carried out through an active system of energy production using photovoltaic glasses, but that can also be done in a passive way, through the integration of a ventilation system to take advantage of the air from the space between the glass and the insulation.
